Spirit – That which is different from the flesh, something that is immortal and not material; an immaterial entity (governments, religions, companies or corporations, etc.) or function (the way something is intended).

God used this word in all of its various forms 582 times in Scripture: 259 times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament; 79 times to Israel in their Koine Greek Old Testament; 13 times to Israel in the transition book of Acts; 15 times to the Body of Christ in the transition book of Acts; 159 times to the Body of Christ in the Gospel of Grace (Romans -Philemon); and 56 times to Israel in their tribulation books.

People have an inner-man, which is a spiritual body, which you are supposed to control and cleanse.  Your body of flesh is the vehicle and residence of your spiritual body while on earth.  While the spirit and soul are the same thing, your heart provides a different function.  Your heart is the seat of your emotions.

When you commune with your own heart, your spirit makes diligent search of your heart.  It is what people refer to as meditation.  The process used to control and cleanse your spirit.

A spirit is the means by which like beings communicate and interact intellectually.  Therefore, if you are not redeemed, you cannot interact with God … God does not hear the prayers of any unredeemed people because they have the spirit of fallen-man; they do not have the spirit of God.

Upon redemption a person’s spirit is amended by getting the life of God, which means that they then have a godly spirit, the spirit of Christ.  With a godly spirit, they are then able to interact with God and other members of the Body of Christ.  A godly spirit is also the light that enables the understanding of God and Scripture, as well as providing godly wisdom, which is why the unredeemed cannot understand Scripture.  The unredeemed can only perceive Scripture in the light of human wisdom; like a blind man groping in the dark, or a toddler teaching Master-level University courses.  The sad fact is that every religious leader is unredeemed: men created religion, but God requires faith in Him.  If you got “saved” in a religious institution, i.e., a Christian, the sad fact is that you are probably not a redeemed member of God’s Body of Christ.

Every spirit is immortal, it lives and feels forever.  Physical death is when your spirit/soul leaves your physical body.  The spirit of people is that which is resurrected for judgement; the redeemed for reward, and the unredeemed for punishment.  The spirits of beasts do not face God in judgement.

Just as there are various forms of fleshly beings on earth, there are various forms of spiritual beings in heaven; just as mankind was designed to have dominion with God on earth, the Body of Christ is designed to have dominion with Jesus Christ in the heavens.

Spirit – When in title-case (1st letter capitalized) is indicative of the Spirit of God, which is not of flesh.  God used this form three times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament (Israel only), and three times to the Body of Christ in the Dispensation of Grace.  The first occurrence was to identify the person of the God, the second occurrence was to show His residence in Moses, and the third occurrence is in the form of a promise to Israel; no gentiles allowed.  The three references in the Dispensation of Grace are two showing the Spirit of Christ being resident in the person of the saint (as with Moses) and the last is identifying the holy Spirit as being the Spirit of God, as well stating that the function of the Spirit of God, which is holy, as the seal of our salvation.

Holy Spirit – In title case, is the Spirit of God, the immaterial person or personality of God, which is not of flesh.  The only occurrence in Scripture is in Luke 11:13, which is to Israel only; no gentiles allowed.  And though it is for Israel only, it is also only available to Israel in the Gospel of the Kingdom.
