Dedicate

Dedicate(v) To set apart and consecrate to a deity or a sacred purpose; To devote wholly to a special purpose or cause; Commit wholeheartedly or unreservedly.

Dedication(v) The act of consecrating to a deity or sacred use; the giving of oneself to some purpose.

Dedicated(adj) Something set apart and consecrated to a deity or to a sacred purpose by a solemn act or by religious ceremonies; Devoted with earnest purposeDedicated can also be the past participle of dedicate or dedication.

God used this word in its various forms 40 times in Scripture: 38 times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament; Once to Israel in their Koine Greek Old Testament book of John; and once to Israel’s Little Flock in their tribulation book of Hebrews.

Not every act of dedication was to God.  One instance was about dedicating a new house to yourself, one instance is about dedicating silver to make idols, and two instances are about the dedications to the images of king Nebuchadnezzar.
