Consecrate

ConsecrateTo devote and make or declare holy by ceremonies or rites.

God used this word in its various forms 41 times in Scripture: 39 times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament; and 2 times to Israel’s Little Flock in their tribulation book of Hebrews.

Aaron was the first person consecrated, and after him the Levite priests.  Later the people that were consecrated were the sons of Acts and the Levite priests.

In II Chronicles, the apostate Israelites cast out the sons of Aaron and the Levites and consecrated their own priest in an attempt to circumvent God.  The religion formed by that action is Judaism, which exists, basically unchanged, today.

Today, Christianity is following the example of Judaism and doing the same thing, for the same reason.
