Bless – an act of spoken adoration; to speak well of, to compliment or flatter someone to the point of fame, which as an end result causes a person, group, or nation to be famous.
To Bless is simply to speak well of to the point of fame. Blessing is current tense of Bless. Blessed is past tense of Bless.
Blessings are not the receipt of rewards or divine intervention that changes your circumstances.
Genesis 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
The act of “blessing” is specifically that God will make the nation famous; through verbal adoration, God will make them famous.
Genesis 48:20 And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
Specifically, the blessing is the act of saying, He spoke to them with adoration and promise to the extent that they were built-up; He gave them such renown that they are able to speak with the authority required to cause others to be influenced by their words.
Numbers 6:23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
How shall Aaron and his sons “bless the children of Israel”? By “saying unto them”; again, the issue is to give verbal adoration to the point of their realization of their fame.
Deuteronomy 8:10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
They are instructed to speak well, verbal adoration, about God for the purpose that God shall be famous in all the land. They obviously have no ability to add any wealth or goodness to God. Don’t mystify the Scripture. Religion, through Presumed Public Knowledge, has taught people that what God designates in Scripture as reward and benefit are blessings, which they are not; blessings are verbal adoration. The reward that God provided caused the verbal adoration (blessing), but the reward is not the blessing.
The religious adage given when a person sneezes, “God bless you” is absurd, why do you wish for God to make them famous just because they sneezed? In fact, scripturally, we are to wish them well, “I hope it’s nothing serious”. When you bless your food before you eat, what do you actually say to make that food famous? You should bless God for your provisions; give God the adoration He deserves for your ability to provide for your household; thank God for instituting the creation principles that allow for the production of food.
To understand best how the Word of God defines itself, let’s consider this point. The blessing of food is derived from Matthew 14:19, 26:26, Mark 6:41, 8:7, 14:22 and Luke 9:16, all of which are consistent with
Matthew 14:19And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
This is defined BY God in John 6:11; the Scripture will always define itself.
John 6:11And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
The Word of God defines itself! According to Scripture the object of blessing is God, Christ is not blessing the food; Christ is giving thanks to God; it is verbal adoration. To have a life filled with blessings is to live your life with adoration to God: it is not the receiving of any physical, situational, or circumstantial benefit from God or anyone else.
What people are taught through religious indoctrination and Presumed Public Knowledge, concerning curses, is actually what God calls affliction. Curses are verbal; afflictions are physical, mental, or emotional. Conversely, what people are taught through religious indoctrination and Presumed Public Knowledge, concerning blessings, is actually what God calls rewards or benefits. Blessings are verbal; rewards and benefits are physical, mental, or emotional.
