Curse – (v) An act of verbal demeaning; to speak against, slander, malign, or discredit a person, group, or nation to the point of infamy.

This word appears in its various forms 172 times in Scripture: 152 times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament; 9 times to Israel in their Koine Greek Old Testament (Matthew thru John); 2 times to the Body of Christ in the transition book of Acts; 6 times to the Body of Christ in the Gospel of Grace (Romans thru Philemon); and 3 times to Israel’s Little Flock in their tribulation books (Hebrews thru Revelation).

Cursed is the past-participle adjective of the verb Curse.

A curse is not a magic spell that causes misfortune.  The term cursing, as regarding foul language, is a misuse of the word; in effect, the person involved is actually cursing himself; causing themselves to be discredited by what is spoken.

Deuteronomy 29:19 And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

Scripturally obvious again, is that the curse is a verbal discredit being widely spread.  He is being slandered and it got all the way back to him, “when he heareth the words of this curse”.  The blessing here is a self-imposed reassurance when he “bless himself in his heart, saying”.  It is verbal.

Jeremiah 29:22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;

The curse is what all of those of Israel in captivity in Babylon will say about the Jews that defied God and refused the Babylonian captivity, “The LORD make thee like …”.  The speaking of these words does not cause the event to occur; it speaks to the discredit of those to whom it is directed.

Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

The instruction here is to not slander or malign the people who treat you unjustly and with malintent; speak well of them and do not slander them.  This is the basis of the old adage “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”.

The religious adage given when a person sneezes, “God bless you” is absurd, why do you wish for God to make them famous just because they sneezed?  In fact, scripturally, we are to wish them well, “I hope it’s nothing serious”.  When you bless your food before you eat, what do you actually say to make that food famous?  You should bless God for your provisions; give God the adoration He deserves for your ability to provide for your household; thank God for instituting the creation principles that allow for the production of food.

To understand best how the Word of God defines itself, let’s consider this point.  The blessing of food is derived from Matthew 14:19, 26:26, Mark 6:41, 8:7, 14:22 and Luke 9:16, all of which are consistent with Matthew 14:19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

This is defined BY Scripture in John 6:11; the Scripture will always define itself

John 6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

According to Scripture the object of blessing is God, Christ is not blessing the food; Christ is giving thanks to God; it is verbal adoration to God for the food.  To have a life filled with blessings is to live your life with adoration to God: it is not the receiving of any physical, situational, or circumstantial benefit from God or anyone else.

What people are taught through religious indoctrination and Presumed Public Knowledge, concerning curses, is actually what God calls affliction.  Curses are verbal.  Afflictions are physical, mental, or emotional.  Conversely, what people are taught through religious indoctrination and Presumed Public Knowledge, concerning blessings, is actually what God calls rewards or benefits.  Blessings are verbal; rewards and benefits are physical, mental, or emotional.

Today, in the Dispensation of Grace, God does not operate through Divine Intervention; God is reserving the afflictions and rewards for the judgment, which will occur following the Dispensation of Grace. The latest trend started by the publisher of “The New King James Version” is to slander God and the translators of the Authorized Version King James Bible of 1611.  They state that the Authorized Version King James Bible of 1611 was a creation by “King Jimmy” to exalt himself before the people.  They claim that all of the “thee, thou, thine” language was simply a self-accommodating inclusion by the King.  However, that translation was by the king’s mandate; he did not personally accomplish or directly influence the process.  Therefore, the claim of “self-exalting” is an obvious fabrication.  As you now see, every word in the Authorized Version King James Bible of 1611 is Scripture; God breathed words on the page recorded by God’s chosen recorders.  Every word in Scripture is specific, exact, and has purpose.
