PolluteTo contaminate and make impure or unclean.

God used this word in its various forms 56 times in Scripture: 53 times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament; 2 times to the Body of Christ in the transition book of Acts; and once to Israel’s Little Flock in their tribulation book of II Peter.

In order to pollute something, to begin with, it must be pure.  When you do something to contaminate yourself, because no one is pure, you defile yourself.

Most references about pollution in Scripture are about idolatry, some are about defective offerings in the temple, and at least one is about taking strangers into the temple, and at least one is about being defiled by the pollution’s of the world.
