Damsel – A young woman between 15 and 20 years old.
Used the word damsel 51 times in Scripture: 37 times to Israel in the Masoretic Text Old Testament; 12 times to Israel in the Koine Greek Old Testament; once to Israel in the transition book of Acts; and once concerning Paul in the transition book of Acts.
Damsel is a statement of maturity and general age only, not of marital status. Damsels are either still living at home, or are living as servants in the house of their masters. If she is a virgin and living in the house of a master, she is referred to as a maiden.
When a damsel reaches full maturity, gets married, or is living on her own, she is then referred to as a woman.
