Brimstone

BrimstoneThe mineral sulfur in a solidified state.

This word appears 15 times in Scripture: 7 times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament; Once to Israel in their Koine Greek Old Testament book of Luke; and 7 times in the book of Revelation.

In Scripture, the use of the word ‘brimstone’ is always accompanied with fire, and usually with smoke.  Scripture uses ‘fire and brimstone’ as the descriptors of the wrath of God.

The first instance is when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.  There is an instance in Revelation where the horses’ breath fire and brimstone in judgement.  All other instances are in the descriptions of Hell and the Lake of Fire.
