Proselyte – Someone who converts to a new doctrine or religion.
God used this word 4 times in Scripture: Once to Israel in the Koine Greek Old Testament book of Matthew; Twice to Israel in the transition book of Acts; and once to the Body of Christ in the transition book of Acts.
In order to be classified as a proselyte, the person must adopt the doctrine and belief system of a group, usually religious. When a person changes political parties, they are a proselyte. When a person changes where they go to Church, they are a proselyte.
A gentile-proselyte can never become a Hebrew or an Israelite, but anyone (Israelite or gentile) can become a proselyte of any religion of the Jews or gentiles.
The reference to an Israelite who is a proselyte without a pretense of serving the God of Israel is called according to the customs, traditions, lifestyle, and beliefs of the god they serve; i.e., Grecians (Joel 3:6, Acts 6:1, 9:29, 11:20). An Israelite who abandons Levitican-Service and pretends to serve the God of Israel is called a Jew. The reference to a gentile who is a proselyte of Israel’s corrupt religious system, Judaism, is also called a Jew.
The fallacy of Christianity is that they often refer to themselves as being ‘spiritual Jews’; thereby rejecting the conversion to Judaism while attempting to steal Israel’s promise. It is true that they are making a pretense of serving Israel’s God, and they have even adopted most of the corrupt Jewish religious customs, practices, rituals, doctrine, observances, and laws. The truth concerning religion, including Christianity, is that there is no salvation provision given for religious service, religious association, or religious participation. Religion serves man. Faith serves God.
