God only used this word twice in Scripture, both times in Israel’s Masoretic Text Old Testament book of Daniel 9:25-26; prophecy concerning Jesus Christ..
In Daniel 9:24-27 God gives Israel a specific timeline for the appearance and ministry of Christ as well as their impending and subsequent tribulation; aka the 70 weeks of Daniel.
Nothing in this prophecy has anything to do with us today, except in being able to understand what God has done and will do. The first 69 weeks of this prophecy have already occurred, and the 70th week is yet to come, of the which is entirely about Israel, not gentiles.
