Endow – (v.) Make payment in a betrothal contract.
God used this word once in Scripture; in Israel’s Masoretic Text Old Testament.
In the early 1700s, the meaning was changed to an adj. (because the Catholic Church wanted more wealth) “Give or bequeath an income or property to a person or institution.”.
In the late 1700s the meaning morphed to include “Furnished or equipped with a particular desirable ability, characteristic, or possession when it is by chance or by birth.”.
In 1951 the meaning morphed again to include a sexual connotation “Well-endowed, as in having breasts or a penis of specified size.”.
Also in the 1950s, when insurance became popular with the middle-class, the word morphed again to include the intransitive verb form definition, “To become payable; yield its conditions.”.
