Discomfit – To defeat; To disperse, rout or put to flight as in battle.
God used this word in its various forms 10 times in Scripture: all to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament.
This word has been retranslated in modern English as “Make (someone) feel uneasy or embarrassed”, which has nothing to do with the real meaning. The modern meaning is simply a variant of discomfort.
By retranslating the word, or accepting a retranslation, you lose the truth and richness of Scripture, which is the purpose of religion.
