Avenge – The action of a legal authority to inflict harm in return for an injury or wrong done with the intent of seeing justice done.
God used this word 44 times in various tense-forms: 34 times in the Masoretic Text Old Testament; 4 times in the Koine Greek Old Testament (all in Luke 18); once in the transition book of Acts (referring back to the incident with Moses); twice to the Body of Christ (Romans thru Philemon); and 3 times in the book of Revelation.
