The word appears in various forms 245 time in Scripture; 107 time to Israel in the Masoretic Text Old Testament; 113 times in the Koine Greek Old Testament; 10 time in the transition-book of Acts; 5 times to the Body of Christ; and 10 times to Israel’s Little Flock in tribulation.
In the Masoretic Text Old Testament, the 107 usages include each of the possible meanings; it is context sensitive. The same is true of the 113 usages in the Koine Greek Old Testament (Matthew thru John).
In the transition-book of Acts, of the 10 uses, 7 uses are as an inquiry, and 2 are requests.
Of the 5 usages in the Dispensation of Grace (Romans thru Philemon) the word is never in about getting anything from God, it is always used as “inquire”.
Of the 10 usages to Israel’s Little Flock in tribulation (Hebrews thru Revelation), only once does it mean to inquire. The other 9 usages are regarding a request for something.
