Ark – A sanctified chest.
When God uses a word, it is specific and accurate. To enjoy the richness of Scripture you must increase your vocabulary.
An ark is not a boat. Just because something floats does not make it a boat.
Christianity has corrupted the word and redefined it, teaching that Noah’s Ark is a boat.
Scripture teaches that an ark is a box. A particular kind of box; a chest. But not just a chest. It is a chest with a specific purpose, “sanctified”.
This is also evidenced in the fact that God established the Ark of Testimony (Exodus 25:10-16, Numbers 4:4, 7:89), and called it the “ark of the covenant” 43 times, which was never a boat.
Noah’s ark does not have a keel, rudder, sails or any other features of a boat. It is rectangular box with square corners (Genesis 6:14-22), but it did float.
Moses was also put in an ark … of bulrushes (Exodus 2:3). The only attribute to it being a boat is that it floated.
