Anguish – Extreme distress.
The level of heartsick, gut-wrenching extreme distress and turmoil that is debilitating and internal blinding.
God only used this word 17 times in all of Scripture: 14 times to Israel in the Masoretic Text Old Testament, once to Israel in the Koine Greek Old Testament, and twice to the Body of Christ.
Jeremiah 50:43 is a great example – The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.
