Abase – To physically cast or throw down someone to a reduced or lower rank, office, condition in life, or estimation of worthiness.
Abase is the opposite of exalt. An action taken to physically diminish someone.
Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
This word is used 8 times in Scripture: 4 times to Israel in their Masoretic Text Old Testament and 3 times to Israel in their Koine Greek Old Testament in addressing pride and self-interest; and once by Paul in Philippians 4:12, wherein it referenced his persecutions.
